Your favourite authors aren’t huddled in some cave writing their next masterpiece. A lot of them have embraced social media as a platform to express themselves within the scope of their profession as writers and outside of it, Like the following;
CHIMAMANDA NGOZI ADICHIE– @chimamanda_adichie
Adichie fondly referred to on social media as CNA, was propelled into the literary limelight with the success of her debut novel, Purple Hibiscus (2003), followed by Half of a Yellow Sun, Americanah , short story collection- The thing around your neck, and more recently, We should all be Feminists. Chimamanda’s page is shy of anything remotely regarding her literary accomplishments, not even quotes. What you get instead is High Fashion featuring, exclusively Nigerian Designers. Adichie has openly campaigned for Nigerians to patronized Made in Nigeria clothes (Products) and what you have on Instagram , is her basically leading by example. An interesting fact, and it says so on her bio is that three of her nieces manage the account.
The fashions, range from regular to eccentric looks and somehow, Adichie makes it work.
IJEOMA UMEBINYUO – @theIjeoma
I followed Umebinuyo, on tumblr, because her writing was so relatable that it seemed like a shared history. She seemed to have a keen ability to articulate experiences you’ve had but may not have known how to talk about.
When she made the move to Instagram, her followership on tumblr simply mirrored over there. At first, you’d find posts with her beautiful penmanship, with quotes from her poetry or some essay she may have written- They now transitioned to sheetshots from her Twitter account. Her account features pictures of Nigeria and her hometown in such a way that feels nostalgic. When she published Questions for Ada, her followers increased, as did her fans. Ijeoma writes for girls, women – and she does so, beautifully…
OKECHUKWU OFILI – @ofilispeaks
It may seem a little partial to have him on this list because he’s part of our team. However, Ofili is here on his own merit. as 14,000 followers will confirm. His persona is pretty interesting and it totally comes across, that he’d rather not do something if he’s not having fun with it. Case in point;One of his books is titled; How stupidity saved my My life and (Ofili’s second book) A self-help book that will help propel you to a great understanding of what you can do with failure. On his page, you’re going to find some of the funniest posts you’ll ever see, including his original take on certain situations. I have my favourite moments; Like when he took this attitude to his wedding planning… here’s
AKWAEKE EMEZI ~ @azemezi
Emezi is a newly published author, in fact, over here at Okada books, we’re pretty excited that Freshwater is coming to Library- and that’s pretty soon. Emezi’s Instagram pretty much looks like a colourful travel Magazine. You’ll see her talk about her family, life choices, getting a new tattoo, celebrating her friends, new experiences and hair – lots and lots of hair. Besides I think she’s she first Nigerian author to be photographed by Annie Leibovitz….
Now, how cool is that?
TEJU COLE ~ @_tejucole
Teju Cole has a unique page by all standards.
His Instagram page is a carefully curated gallery of oil paintings, or what looks like parts of an oil painting. I still can’t say if they’re his work, he compliments some of them with writings, talking about mental health, classical music appreciation- a short captions, long note and sometimes, nothing at all. If you appreciate artistic expressions, you’re likely to be moved by what you see and read.

You forgot to add @simplypoetryng Dike Chukwumerije!
I follow quite a number of them. But the most fun is Naija single girl. This list isn’t complete without her. She is the Author of 29, single and Nigerian.
I follow Kiru Taye, Emem Bassey, thefertilechickwriter,
