Did you think the Coronavirus pandemic was going to stop the biggest literary event in all of Africa from happening? Think again. AkeFest 2020 is definitely happening! 

The theme of the virtual Ake Festival 2020 is African Time. It is also the theme of Ake Review, the festival’s journal of new writing, exploring issues and ideas around shaping the future of Africa and people of African descent, particularly in light of the extraordinary times we’re living through.

Call for Submissions!
Ake Review is now accepting submissions for its 2020 edition.
Please submit original and unpublished entries to editor@akefestival.org. See the flyer below for more details.

Ake is calling for submissions of Poetry, Fiction, Non-Fiction, and Visual Art exploring the theme for the 2020 edition.

Submit unpublished works as attachments in Word (or JPEG for Visual Art) via email to editor@akefestival.org. NO PDF! 

Include a Writer/Artist bio up to 70 words. One submission per person.

Creatives whose works are accepted for publication will receive 2 complimentary copies of the journal and a modest honorarium.

Submission Guidelines

  1. Poetry – up to 4 poems
  2. Fiction – up to 4,000 words
  3. Non-Fiction – up to 2,000 words
  4. Visual Art – High-resolution JPEG.

Deadline for submissions is Friday, July 17, 2020.
