Chimamanda Adichie Receives an Honorary Degree From Duke University

The amazing Chimamanda Adichie has added another degree to her collection of honourary degrees. She announced this on Facebook. At the 2018 commencement ceremony of Duke University, our Nigerian pride received this award alongside five other recepients.

It was announced in March that she was among the 6 people the degree would be conferred upon. According to the University, this honourary degree was awarded to them because they have immensely changed the world in their own unique ways.

This degree is a Doctor of Humane Letters, a degree conferred to those who have distinguished themselves in areas other than science, government, literature or religion. So this means that Chimamanda’s involvement in non-literary activities like Feminism, earned her this degree.

Chimamanda Adichie is an elegance, brilliance and grace never ceases to amaze us. She has taken the flag of Nigerian Literature beyond the African continent and we are proud of her numerous accomplishments.
