Nigerian author, Elnathan John, will be one of the judges of the 2019 Man Booker International Prize! He shared this news on Instagram a few hours ago. Stating in the caption, how busy his 2019 is going to be due to this role:
The Man Booker International Prize is an international literary award given to an author. Until 2016, this award was used to reward an author’s continued creativity, development and overall contribution to fiction on the world stage. It also used to recognize an author’s entire works rather than a single book. Submission weren’t accepted; instead, the judges for the year compiled their own list of authors and decide on the best one for the award.
The award’s approaches have since been modified and now, it recognises only a single book from an author’s numerous works. Also, submission are welcome.
We are thrilled to know that Elnathan John, an OkadaBooks author, will be among the team of judges that will make next year’s award possible.
Elnathan John is a brilliant satirist and a lawyer. His stories have twice been shortlisted for the Caine Prize for African Writing. He was also longlisted for the 2017 Etisalat Prize for African Literature, shortlisted for the 2016 Nigeria Prize for Literature and the 2017 Republic of Consciousness Prize.
His most notable work, Born On A Tuesday is available for download on OkadaBooks.
