Karanta Cikin Hausa - Read in English

Guess what? Francis Is Alive and he is in Nigeria.

Now that’s a mystery. It’s the kind of mystery that leaves you at the edge of your seat as you flip through the pages of this amazing thriller by Moshood Adebayo. World War III is looming and in this intriguing but layered story about intelligence agencies, spies, secret societies, reincarnates, immortals, and just about everything else that makes a good suspense-filled story brilliant; Nigeria is at the center stage leading the charge (blindly if I’m being honest, but who cares? We are leading). I guess that is what I love the most about this book; this far-fetched imagination of Nigeria’s government and security agencies. It’s fiction alright, but it’s also hope. If we can dream up a better nation, then we can build it.

So sorry if I’m sounding political, but I can’t help it. I also can’t help running wild over the author’s captivating and detailed description of fight scenes or the subtle movie references in the book (Hobbs? Transporter? Omo! The inner nerd in me was in book heaven).

Honestly, I’m not so sure I liked the typewriter font used in putting Francis Is Alive together, but hey, don’t knock it till you try it. You may not mind. Also, the story may seem a bit too fast-paced, but then again, it’s okay to feel a little breathless from time to time. So please, don’t let that deter you from diving into this exciting story.

All in all, Francis is Alive. He is in Nigeria, and in the pages of this book, we find and everything else in between.
