Generation X – A Wake Up Call!

Generation X – A Wake Up Call!

Karanta Cikin Hausa - Read in English

Welcome to Generation X; a generation that is ahead of time, and behind in thinking.

I am in a sick generation! Yes a very sick one. Nobody wants to stand out, everybody wants to be society’s puppet. Nobody wants to break the code or smash the norm; the fear of social media savagery conducted by individuals who lack the audacity to compose and organize their own lives (who in reality, are petrified yet, make others feel inadequate and short of something close to great) is making us bottle up our authentic lives.

We are a generation where everything is a joke; memes here, clapbacks there and the popular craze to be called a “savage” is making people lose their sense of purpose in life. Everything is funny to us, everybody is a walking joke waiting to be laughed at at the slightest opportunity.
I am in a generation where insane minds are worshipped over minds carved out of intellectualism.

We are a generation, where everything revolves around sex. Nobody wants friendship; if I can’t date you, what do I need you for? What is the purpose of dating in our time? To be honest, where is the bond that exists in our fore-generations? When we were kids and would play and have fun as opposite sexes without having of any ulterior motives?

The air in my generation is contaminated, polluted and tainted. A generation where no girl can wear what she likes, or she gets sexually violated. Statements like “her skirt was too short and clingy, her cleavage was out, full burst of display” or “why she sef go wear that kain cloth, kun deh waka like tolotolo upandan?”.
Are we not all mad? Is there now justification for breaking the law, violating her/him sexually or even harassing her/him? Come on!

This is the generation I found myself in. I call it “Generation X”. In my generation your assets determines your worth, so I have my brothers turning to cyber terrorists and my sisters turning to business oriented sexual merchants and dealers.
So in my generation, every or any way is a way.

Once again, welcome to Generation X!
