A lot of YOUsers don’t know this but you can create ePubs with Google Docs or OkadaBooks’ Website for free. Once created, you can upload these epubs anywhere on the internet.
To get started, you’ll need a stable internet connection and a computer. Also, read through this post first so you’ll understand the steps and everything else that might be required.
How to Convert a Book to ePub with Google Docs
- Visit https://docs.google.com and paste your story into a new document (Or if your story is on Google Docs, open it)
- Open the file on Google Docs
- Go to File -> Download as -> EPUB Publication (.epub)
The doc will be converted to .epub and downloaded automatically. Then you can upload it on OkadaBooks. This video will show you how to upload it: Watch it
How to Convert a Book to ePub with OkadaBooks (Copy/Paste Method)
First of all, you need to register on OkadaBooks or sign in, It’s Free. If you can’t remember your login details, recover them here. … We’ll wait for you.

Step 1: Go to http://publish.okadabooks.com, or click on CREATE YOUR STORY or UPLOAD… anyone of those (login or signup if you haven’t to be able to do this). The page below will load up… I stole it from OkadaBooks
Step 2: Fill the Title, Category, Description, price and Upload your book cover.
Tick “Disable Sale in Web Store” to sell and allow users access the book on the OkadaBooks App alone, instead of App and Website. Some say their book is safer on the App alone.
Tick Adult (18+) if the book is an Adult book. If the cover is pornographic (contains a nude image or a strong language, your book will be deleted whether Adult (18+) is ticked or not. So, don’t upload nudes or say something strong
If the book is in Ms word, PDF, .txt or any other format then you won’t be clicking on UPLOAD EPUB. Instead, you should be clicking on CREATE EPUB. This is where it gets really easy.
The CREATE EPUB button will pop-down a SECTION. Do not panic
What are these SECTIONS?
Remember how books come with a table of contents?
The table of contents is a list of the parts of a book or document organized in the order in which the parts appear. The contents usually include the title page and all other parts of the books (each chapter has it’s title). Now, Printed tables of contents indicate page numbers where each part starts, while digital ones offer links to go to each part. What this SECTION does is to help you create links, like a table of contents and this makes the Chapters in your book easily accessible. >>>The image below is an interesting fiction called “Acceptance” on Okadabooks with each chapter in SECTIONS.
Now, all your have to do is to Add each chapter of your book in each section. e.g For the first section (Section #1), give it the title of your first chapter and put the contents of your first chapter there… See clear illustrations in images below
See a Story sample below with a Chapter (Your own chapter could have a title) and you could click the + ADD SECTION to add Chapter two (or your second chapter)
See another creative format below
It requires creativity. You could even create an Appreciation section to thank your mum, dad or NEPA. When you’re done, you should preview, or Save your work before publishing. I’d save first if I were you.
It is advised you click the preview button to view your book and exactly what it would look like when you publish. Also, you could go back (from the preview) and make changes to your work. The image below shows what the preview section looks like, with detailed markers.
Like i said, Make sure you preview your work before you finally publish: PREVIEW before PUBLISH
Your book will start selling on the OkadaBooks store immediately if you PUBLISHED it. If you saved it, then go to Publish -> My Publication to download an ePub copy of the book. See screenshot below:
HERE ARE A FEW POINTS TO NOTE
If you’re using Safari on a Mac and these steps don’t work for you, try another browser.
Renaming a book from MyStory.docx to MyStory.epub does not convert the book to an ePub file, you’re smart. I respect that.
Don’t worry about the page numbers, font type, size and other details during preview. You can change these details (like font size and type etc) while reading on the App.
You don’t have to refill to publish a book.
Aha! Finally, Authors make 70% from their books, for priced books only. Free books are read for free. You can price your book for any amount. Authors can change the price of their books anytime. If you run into any problems at all, send us an email. themechanic@okadabooks.com

You guys should make the epub conversation of one works easy after all you guys are taking 30% of sales income. One cannot upload book cover, copy and paste, etc. You guys want us to be paying for such services before we can publish our books. Not good and Your App application is not verifying phone numbers. Can I publish with an Android phone?
Yes, you can, but it isn’t advised. Publishing with a computer gives you better control over the publishing process, I’d recommend this.
