There was a nation,
Where peace was a dish served cold and all her 37 children ate in oneness,
Where the labour of our heroes past didn’t just dwell in the past.
A time when Arise O’ Compatriots gave birth to a nation bound in freedom,
When peace and unity made people faithful, loyal and honest.
If love was a nation, she wouldn’t be Caucasian, Mongoloid, Negroid or Australoid,
Because the measure of one’s strength is not in the colour of their skin but in the contents of their character.
If love was a nation, would she be Nigeria?
Where her love of power is greater than her power of love.
Where greed, the prejudice of traditions, the sentiments of religion has stolen our dignity, torn apart our unity.
So where is the unity in diversity?
Oh Nigeria let’s Arise!
Put aside our sentiments, join hands and make this nation rise,
So that in the end, we could sit together and say “Yes we finally made it because we actually paid the price”.
Nigeria has and will always be great.
Let’s write the name of this great nation on the Sands of time,
And someday, love will dwell deep in the recess of our hearts.
Then we would realize that the labour of our heroes past didn’t just dwell in the past.
