She hawked for money and was raped,
All he could say was “sorry”.
Her dreams shattered,
Her family scattered.
She grieves her father’s death,
As she awaits her unwanted child’s birth.
Her life, her cross.
He’s a taxi driver,
His wife dying of cancer.
Begged, prayed but there seems to be no answer.
Devastated,
Frustrated.
His life, his cross.
Dreams of wedding bells;
Pressure and noise from parents,
As the sound of jingle bells.
Several disappointments,
Failed promises and commitments,
Age fading away,
Growing older by the day.
Emotionally Depressed,
Physically stressed.
Her life, her cross.
Fleet of almond tanks,
Men in uniform with different ranks.
His wife, his children,
His country his kins men.
Prayed to come out of the war alive,
Headed home happy and full of life,
Caught his wife with his best friend.
Heart broken, damaged beyond amendment,
Smoke on his face, hot tears he shed.
Pained,
Shamed.
His life, his cross.
She’s a loving mother,
He’s a wife beater.
She’s fed up,
Sad and bitter.
He doesn’t take up responsibility,
Maltreated, faced with so much hostility.
Her life, her cross.
