Love is a beautiful thing , don’t get it twisted. It doesn’t care about age, gender, ethnicity, religion or societal class placements; once cupid’s arrow finds its way to your heart, forget it, you’re hooked. If you’ve ever been a hopeless romantic, relax, you’ve done nothing wrong. Na love you love, you no kill person.
For this edition (read #1 here), we tapped into nostalgia and asked our Riders to pen down a love letter to their (hypothetical) true love, to show you what love can look like on paper, just in case you’ve forgotten. Let’s see what they came up with. Read on, this should be fun.

I want to share with you the sweetness of love, it is at the forefront of my throat. It is where my bubbles rise at the thought of you. You make it easy to love you. You make it easy to just give back with all of me. I love these bubbles in my throat.

Open Letter To My Beloved Forever. Since you came into my life you have left your imprint in every aspect. Thank you for being selfless and loving me despite my shenanigans. It is true that you may not be the man I wanted, but indeed, you are definitely the man I need. I may not love you as much as you love me yet, but it is my prayer that God will help me to love you even as you have loved and are still loving me. And that He would help me to submit to you as a woman should. Thank you for your care at all times, I’m still learning to soak in it. Thank you for your patience and understanding, chai! it’s second to none.
I am more blessed because God blessed me with a man like you. There are several men in the land, but you exceed them all. I do not take you for granted. I do not take your love for granted. Even in this journey, I trust God to help me to be the best friend, lover, partner, twin, sister, and mother. Thank you, dear. I’m grateful for the gift of you. Your sweetheart, Debs.

Ifemi, these words I write is a way of saying: look, the sound of your voice breaks the silence of my heart. I am trying to tell you: your voice is the timbres of worship echoing rhythmic sounds anew. even the cherubim and seraphim envy. Can you imagine how sweet it is? Sometimes I wonder what you are made of. The way you walk and talk with flair & your face paints colors in my head like a rainbow in the happy cloud. this is another way of telling you that: you spice my heart with love & that I long for the day, that minute we shall walk down the aisle, singing the beauty in your eyes in sweet rehearsed musical style.

Hi sweet Florence, You are a woman with substance in abundance, and Knowing you is like a blessing from a distance. A woman with a luminance glowing with innocence, your kind is scarce in existence. Your presence drives away annoyance and grievance. You possess an angelic semblance. I hope you accept my utterance with acquiescing and not severance because I have fallen under your anointing like deliverance… Your Sweetheart. Chris

To my sweet sensation, Leila, you are my Capella. Let me sing you an a cappella. Shall we? Or do you want a milkshake with vanilla? Disregard the tempest for I love you and not Camilla. The rain of your love has drenched me, and I am left with no umbrella. Don’t forsake me, Leila, or else I’d contact Salmonella; we’re so compatible that you can call me your Havilla. I’ll take you around the world with cash from my bank teller. We’re meant to be Leila, we need no fortune teller. Let’s write our love in a platter of gold, for I am a good storyteller.

Dear Love, nothing in this world can compare to how much love I have for you. I have been longing and craving for the day our paths will cross so that I can express this long and unending feeling I have for you. There is no one in the world that can take the place you now occupy in my heart.

Dear Angel, I know Angel is not your name, but I think you deserve to be called one. From the depth of my heart, I know you fell from heaven. My heart becomes a little weak thinking in the corner of my room how I’d fallen so hard for someone like you. The meaning of love makes man so fragile and frail, and I’ve always laughed when my friends fall. It dampens my pride a little as I have resulted in penning down my feelings, for my lips are still and chapped whenever they come close to uttering the words “I love you.”
I know loving someone that’s not real might seem as crazy to people who don’t understand but I don’t care, because I feel whole with you. You’re the missing piece in my puzzle, my angel. Now that you’re back, I hope we can start something new. I love you forever, Gregory”

I looked, looked, and looked – but all in vinegar vain. I searched, searched, and searched – but found no love. So sad, so sapped and no longer feeling cerebrally certain, You miraculously materialized – my own heaven-sent dove. My happy heart races at the sound of your voice. My merry mind leaps at the sight of my cherished crush. My satisfied soul swirls at my providence-inspired choice. My buoyant body ignites at the feel of your tender touch. Oh my good gosh! The amorous ache… it hurts – so sweetly. And the fragrant fire flaming within… it burns – so soothing. My delightful desire sends round sensuous spikes – so warmly. Leaving me wet and spent in ecstasy’s prison – so enthralling. To whom or what shall I ever dare liken you, my Maple tree? To others, falling as one, like us – or to others that fall apart below par? To the sun, the moon, the stars – or to all galaxy-orbiting three? No, my diamond diadem; by all, you stand head above the highest bar.

Dear Heart, It’s been difficult being away from you for the past few days. I’m not sure how I managed to live my life before I met you, because nothing is the same without you. I’ve lost my appetite for meals, and now that you’re not here to eat with me, everything tastes bland. Since you aren’t here to dance with me, the music has lost its beat. Loving you has allowed me to see the world in a new light. Now, I understand how lovely life can be when you’re with the person who makes your heart skip a beat. Your love gives me the boost I need to keep going. The story of how we met and all the beautiful memories we’ve made together is still fresh in my mind like it happened yesterday. I’ll never forget how wonderful you are and how lovely you have made my life. Only you fill my heart with hope and my face with smiles, even after months and years. My sweetheart, I adore you. Without a question, you are the best thing that has ever happened to me. I consider myself fortunate to have finally discovered the missing piece of me. Come home soon for you are greatly missed. I wish you success in your faraway ventures, and many lonely nights until you return home to me (hehe). Yours eternally, Boo bear.
