Dear Lord,
We work in haste
But we end up in vain
We strive to live
Yet, we have no peace.
Days and days, we toiled.
Yet fruitfulness is what we lacked
Sweats of our labour dropped daily
From our dust-formed body.
We laboured without rest
Yet we eat like an ant
Still wanting to refill
Its hungered stomach.
The country we called our hope
Painted our hopes black
They burnt our heart desires
And packed it ashes on our heads.
Diseases appeared daily,
They increased fear in us,
As our risk become more vulnerable
And we don’t know what calamity shall befall us.
Hunger became our normal lifestyle,
0-0-1 we do daily,
Yet we are tortured
By the beatings of hunger and lack.
Dear Lord,
We beseech thy mercy,
For the innocent souls are dying,
The living ones are weak,
The heart you gave us is burdened.
Dear Lord
We love you,
And we hope for your response,
As we patiently anticipate you.
Yours faithfully,
Your Creation.
