Karanta Cikin Hausa - Read in English

To write about love
Is to press the entirety of your heart
Into your fingertips.
Is it possible to etch the colours
That light up gloomy souls
On blank paper?

To write about love
Is to explain the miracle of
Translating flaws into favourites.
Who can really explain the
synch of
Different Souls
Or
The indigestion
of butterflies
That was never consumed?

Love is an explosion of
Star-shine and light
A kind of manure that makes a
Garden of flowers from
Ashes of hurt and pain

Love is a genre-bending
Life-twisting
Body-bending
&
Soul-merging experience
So when you ask me to write
About love
What you are really asking
Is for me to take out a beating heart
& turn it into a specimen.
