The drums of war beats steadily
Restlessly, youth with hunger, anger and frustration
Glaring as death; armed, looting and killing,
Killing the peace, we all fought and sacrificed for.
Fear now rule our streets; violence, herders and terrorist rules without laws,
Elders speaks low, head lowered: sighs and moans
Sages cowed, bowed, fearing to voice words of hope.
Words of succor evades the priests
As the love, unity, peace, security and hope, we all once shared
Are being murdered in the street.
Change our hope, suffered us all
Bowl of grit to eat, even on the floor
Many prayed and strived,
Slaved, worked without a wage
While the changemaker trots the globe
In search of hope, far from home.
Peace we begged for, love and hope for tomorrow we hungered
Tomorrow, filled with hope fueled via change
Security, justice, peace and development
Hope of a greater tomorrow, we lounged
Alas! Hunger, strives and brigandage
High whiff of fear amidst mass of insecurity
We inherit; pains and weeping, enduring
Through the fears of the nights
And the scary days of looting, hunger and, then, even more fear
As the changes we thought wrought
Watches idly, while crime and lack enslaves the land
