Tomilola Coco is one writer I have followed for a long time from her blogs. So when The Reunion dropped, I was eager to start reading.
I knew that although it is a romance novel, it will be with a distinct ‘Tomi flavour’ and truly I wasn’t disappointed.
The Reunion tells the story of Yemi Edwards and Ibukun Soetan. Yemi finds himself liking Ibukun from high school but unfortunately Ibukun was one of the big girls in school and she never gave him the time of day. As a matter of fact she didn’t even know he existed until their class reunion 10 years later.
Caught at her lowest of lows after being cheated on by her ex of her money and business, she needed help fast, so she won’t come to financial ruin. Yemi was in the position to assist her but not without a few conditions of his.
It was fun and I had more than a few laughs seeing both characters bumble around with the help of close friends, colleagues and family.
Tomi’s writing is really vivid and relatable. I felt like one of the characters and I couldn’t help but imagine being in either one of them shoes.
I love reading books with familiar locations so if you are a Lagosian, you will find the setting of this book all shades of superb.
