‘What a thought provoking read! ‘, you exclaim after reading the book.
You are happy with the author’s work. He wrote about teenagers, school, sexuality and religion. There is a lot to discuss about the book.
If only there was someone to talk about it with.
‘Check him up on Google. He might have written others’, you think to yourself.
You check him up on Google, see his face book account and send him a friend request.
Without delay, he accepts and sends a message. You are surprised and happy. It’s like Chimamanda sending you a private message. You begin to chit-chat about the book.
From your conversation, he tells you about the writing classes he holds for students. You are excited. He could help you with your book.
‘Can we meet?,’ he asks.
You send yes. Nothing to be scared of.
The next day, you find yourself at his house. Why am I at his house?, you didn’t ask yourself that
The next few minutes is spent with you asking questions about his writing career. Soon, there isn’t anything left to talk about.
That’s when reality kicks in. You’ve been foolish and gullible. You look around his stuffed living room; clothes strewn on the chairs and floor, colorful DVDs scattered all over the center table, a sketched portrait of his. No wedding photos. Come to think of it, is such meeting supposed to be held in his home if he is…?
Your heart thump wildly
‘ Are you married?,’ you ask him.
‘No, why?’
You recall that there was a photo of a woman with her arms encircled around his neck on his timeline. She had the same surname as his. She was his wife, you had told yourself. But now, you realize it could be his sister.
What the hell are you doing alone with him?
As if to answer, he comes over to where you’re sitting and tries to kiss you. You push back but he’s stronger. You’re the weaker sex, remember? Who said men and women were equal?
Within minutes, it is all over. The deed, your pride. Over. Who would you tell? Who would even believe your side of the story? How didn’t you think of such when going to his house?
Society won’t believe you!

Interesting read.
It is a pity we are in a kind of society where victims are not even safe to call themselves victims.
It’s a shame. Thanks for reading Jake😄
